About Tarot
Tarot is a deck of 78 cards used for reflection and insight rather than literal fortune-telling — each card carries a traditional meaning that shifts depending on whether it appears upright or reversed, and on the question or situation it's drawn for.
Major Arcana vs. Minor Arcana
The deck splits into two parts. The 22 Major Arcana cards — from The Fool through The World — represent big, often life-defining themes: major turning points, lessons, and archetypal forces at work. The 56 Minor Arcana cards are split into four suits (Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles), each covering a different area of everyday life: Wands for ambition and action, Cups for emotion and relationships, Swords for thought and conflict, and Pentacles for money, work, and material security. Within each suit, Ace through Ten trace a situation's progression, while the Page, Knight, Queen, and King represent different personality styles or approaches to that suit's theme.

Upright vs. reversed
A card's meaning isn't fixed — when it comes up reversed (upside down in the spread), the same core theme often shows up as blocked, delayed, turned inward, or expressed in a more challenging way. Reading reversals isn't required for a meaningful tarot reading, but many readers find it adds useful nuance, especially for cards that would otherwise feel purely positive or purely negative.
How to read a spread
For a one-card draw, hold a question or area of your life in mind and let the card speak to that specific context rather than reading it in the abstract. For a three-card spread, a common approach is past–present–future, or situation–action–outcome — read each card individually first, then look at how they relate to each other as a small story. Every card on this site also has its own full page with love, career, and advice interpretations — worth a look if one keeps coming up for you.
